Empowering Careers: Tools and Insights for Students with Disabilities
In this session, join Mollie Connelly-MacNeill, ASU Career Services Advisor: Disability and Inclusivity Specialist and ASU ISSC coordinator Isaac Garcia as we explore essential tools and strategies for empowering students and alumni with disabilities in their career journeys. Our panel features insights from Mollie, an experienced career services professional and ASU alum with a disability, as well as a firsthand account from Isaac, a disabled student who recently and successfully transitioned to a full-time employee at ASU.
Participants will learn about tailored resources and opportunities designed to support career development for individuals with disabilities.
This panel aims to present useful information for students, alumni, staff and faculty. Bring your questions, as there will be open time for discussion after the presentation.
Speakers
Mollie Connelly-MacNeill graduated summa cum laude from ASU with both a BA and an MA in English. During grad school, she worked in Hayden Library's Special Collections department to create a collection of 62 rare manuscripts from the 17th-20th century artists and writers. This collection can be found in ASU's Digital Repository. In 2024, obtained a graduate certificate in Archival Studies from U of A. She worked as an academic advisor for ASU's Department of English and now works as a Career Advisor at ASU Career Services. She specializes in advising students and alumni with disabilities, neurodivergence, and chronic illnesses.
Isaac Garcia graduated from ASU with an M.S. in Justice Studies and a Graduate Certificate in Disability Studies. He also obtained a B.A. in Sociology from San Francisco State University. While completing his masters, he held various positions in student, accessibility, event, and meeting services within the Memorial Union. He most recently just got hired in the International Students and Scholar Center as a coordinator, who supervises international and domestic students; and provides guidance to students who are on F1 or J1 visa statuses.
