The Art of Crafting Meaningful Alt+Text
In this session, we will explore how to write alt text that effectively conveys the meaning and purpose of images in an academic. The focus will be on strategies for describing various image types, including complex images, collections of images, tables, graphs, charts, and maps.
Attendees will learn how to assess an image's contextual role to determine whether it requires detailed alt text or can be classified as decorative. We will also discuss the importance of leveraging captions to enhance alt text, ensuring that the visual content is accessible and meaningful to all users, especially those relying on assistive technology.
